NBA Fever Underway!

The pre-season has begun. Players battle it out for roster spots and starting positions. And this time of year, for every true NBA fan, the 6 year reigning champ of basketball simulations is back… NBA 2k8!
Some cool new features this year are:
1) new signature-style moves
2) slam dunk contest
3) kevint durant and the 2008 rookies!

I’ve been playing basketball videogames as far back as with 4-bit personal computers. I remember playing on this ancient machine, where you can’t even recognize which jersey numbers is which, and the only identifiable player on the court was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, because of his bald head and pixels that resembles his goggles.Â
Oh, and for videogame vets, in the old Family Computer, there was a basketball game where when you try to dunk, the screen shifts into a corny slow motion, black-and-white animation of a dunk… everytime.
But now, games have evolved, you even have animations for the crowd. The mascots, the cheerleaders.  From single game options to a more complex, “career” type handling of an NBA team.
So, just like in NBA team huddles… what time is it?Â

Update: We are going to have our first Davao wedding (Ron Ryan & Annson) at Eden on August 4. We are very excited for it’s gonna be a 6 hour road trip!  Been preparing for this monumental event this early in our careers hehehe.  I have watched DVDs of The Hitcher, Road Trip & Texas Chainsaw Massacre as added precautionary measures. Hehehe.

Gone With The Wind (…Or Tree)

It rained so hard yesterday that one of the oldest restaurant in CDO got crushed when one of the oldest tree in the city collapsed. Â
This restaurant is near our office so I had the chance to take one last picture of the 15 plus year old establishment.Â
Hope no one got hurt.

5ive Years

Wow. Today is our 5th (church) wedding anniversary. Paz gave me this great gift for the office and chocolate.  Well as of this writing, only the wrapper of the chocolate remains on my table.
Yesterday I watched our own wedding video, which looked like it was shot 20 years ago!  But I’m not writing to diss the ones who made our video because for one, our budget at that time doesn’t afford us a better one, and two, there are no one better here in Cagayan de Oro. Back then, I think it was still the ”old way” of documenting a wedding. There were already quality photographers, but the videography here is still not yet that developed.
 It’s been a wonderful 5 years with you, Paz… 20 more to go till our silver, 45 to gold. Hope you’ll stay the same, physically… hehe and all. Love you.

The trailer of probably the coolest movie this 2007.
Practically grew up watching these “heroes in a half-shell”. Had a complete action figures collection of all 4 Ninja Turtles, including the Turtle Van! Saw the previous 3 films which was awesome, dude.
Can’t wait for the March 23 screening. Definitely gonna watch it while eating pizza! :p
